Noida residents to pay charges for excess water usage

No Comments Sub Category:Municipality,Other cities Posted On: Jul 27, 2012

The residents of Noida soon will have to pay water bill as per the meter reading instead of fixed rates.

The Noida authority is considering a proposal to install water meters at all premises covering an area of 240 meter square or more. The main objective is to check the wastage of drinking water.

Under the prevailing system residents seem to waste drinking water on washing cars and irrigation of lawn as they do not have to pay for the excess water. Hence the authority has decided to change the fixed charge system and introduce the meter.

The authority plans to outsource the new system to generate more revenue. The authority is also set to hike the water rates soon.
