Now, pay bills via mobile
For the first time in the country, the Karnataka government has launched an integrated mobile enabled service delivery system named ‘Sakala’.
Residents can pay their electricity, water and mobile bills, and property tax via mobile phones. You can even pay traffic fines via mobile.
After launching the service, Chief Minister said that this service will save time, it is hassle free and can be accessed from all mobile phones.
The advantage of the system is that you need not have to memorise several numbers to access different services. To access the service, dial 8088887766. It will give instructions in Kannada and English about how to make use of the services. For the interface dial * 505*807# or login to https://mobile.karnataka.gov.in
Citizens can pay the bill using their credit card, bank account using the IMPS (Interbank mobile payment service) or mRupee (a semi-closed wallet based financial instrument) offered by Tata teleservices. No documents are required for the Sakal applications services on phone.
As many as 151 services have been included for status enquiry. Citizens can subscribe traffic alerts and all helplines can be availed at one place. The mobile service delivery gateway is provided by Onmobile at free of cost to the state government for the first phase of the project. The Chief Minister has directed other departments to adopt mobile governance to deliver services to the citizens.
