Odisha: Integrated Textile Park proposed in Mayurbhanj district
The setting up of an integrated textiles park (ITP) has been proposed in Mayurbhanj district in Odisha. The textile park – which will give a notable boost to the state’s textile sector – has been proposed under the Scheme for Integrated Textiles Park (SITP) of Union ministry of Textiles.
About the proposal for the ITP in Mayurbhanj district, Amit Behera – convenor of the industry body North Odisha Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NOCCi) – said that the setting up of the textile park has been proposed to the Central government.
Behera also revealed that, as per the proposal, the ITP will sprawl over an extensive 50-acre land area at the Baripada spinning mill complex. The estimated total cost for the ITP project is Rs 120 crore.
The proposal has detailed that an amount of Rs 18 crore will be spend on procuring the land available in spinning mill campus; while Rs 65.5 crore will go towards establishing common infrastructure. In addition, a cost of Rs 25 crore is estimated for a common business centre; and Rs 5 crore each for common maintenance facility and common service equipment, among others.
The activities which will be undertaken at the proposed ITP will include ginning, spinning, weaving, sizing and stitching. Once the proposed textile-sector-specific park becomes operational, it is expected to generate employment for 20000 people; and will have a total business potential of Rs 200 crore per annum.
