The CCI team was headed by Anil Swaroop the additional secretary at the Cabinet secretariat today jointly scrutinised the progress of 60 projects along with top state officials.Projects with investments exceeding Rs 1000 crore were taken up for review.
These projects were across sectors like steel, power, coal and railways. Hence the nation can expect some growth in these fields in the coming months. Swaroop explained after the meeting that the approach of the state government in dealing with the progress of large projects is extremely positive. The state government has fixed timelines for implementation of each project. This is a corporate approach and India Inc. now can expect some timely completion of projects.
Posco’s 12 million tonne mega steel plant was among the 60 projects that came up for discussion. The South Korean steel major has in the first phase, proposed to develop an eight million tonne steel plant and had sought 2700 acres land.Despite the and allotment by the state government, the project has been delayed chiefly due to delay in grant of prospecting license (PL) over the Khandadhar iron ore deposits by the Union ministry of mines.
