Okalipuram 8 lane project work begins
Good news for the commuters and motorists who travel from Rajajinagar,Vijayanagar and Basaveshwaranagar. The civic body is going to begin the work of Okalipuram eight lane project which was initiated in November 2008 by urban development minister S Suresh Kumar.
After four years, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has given the contract to Simplex Infrastructure and Jagadish Shettar government laid its foundation stone for the proposed Okalipuram road-widening project last week.
The eight-lane project is expected to bring down the traffic congestion mainly in Bangalore West. Residents of Basaveshwaranagar feels that the project is necessary for smooth travel to CBD areas while the others say that once the metro links get functional from Peenya and Majestic, and Mysore Road and Majestic, it will accommodate around 10 lakh people per day which will also reduce the load on roads leading to CBD.
Residents of west Bangalore thinks that the eight-lane project will provide easy accessibility to Majestic and KR Circle, without going to Vijaynagar Metro station or Rajajinagar Metro using feeder services. The widening of this small stretch of road will also help commuters travelling everyday. It will reduce their travel time to a large extent.
About the project:
