The green belts of Western and the Eastern Ghats which were lorded by the epic Veerappan’s rule are no more haunted. People have ventured into these areas  and are planning to establish structures.

Various realtors are crowding the villages of Dhimbam, Hassanur and Thalavady in Sathyamangalam taluk area to convert the revenue lands into plots and farms. These lands will be eventually sold to people who are looking for a holiday and retirement homes.

It is believed that these villages are  blessed with salubrious climate along with clean air and water making it the perfect place for retirement and holiday homes.  The land prices at the time of the dreaded dacoit’s rule was merely anything and there were seldom any land deals, but today it has  increased to about 80-90 lakhs per acre.
