Omar lays stone of vertical housing colony
Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah laid the foundation of the first integrated vertical housing colony at Bemina in Srinagar. The building is to be constructed by the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA). The approximated project cost for the housing colony is being pegged at Rs 200 crore with the financing of Housing and Urban Development Corporation (HUDCO). Under the Shehjar Project, 532 residential apartments are to be constructed by the SDA, including 336 2BHK apartments and 196 3BHK apartments.
The Chief Minister while laying the foundation of Shehjar Apartments at Bemina commented that this would open doors to future living in the city under the concept of cluster housing units.
The project of constructing Shehjar Apartments by the Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) would in a big way help in changing views regarding the concept of horizontal residential apartments and shift the perception towards the vertical system of construction so as to accommodate more families in less space, the Chief Minister said.
An official associated with the project said Shehjar Apartments was a part of the SDA’s endeavour to provide safe, decent and affordable housing in Srinagar.
