One lakh houses by 2016
Punjab deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday announced construction of one-lakh houses for economically weaker sections (EWS) at affordable prices. These houses would be ready by October, 2016.
Besides, he has also issued directions to concerned departments to identify land in cities and towns at the earliest to complete this mega welfare project in stipulated time. In a meeting on EWS housing held here on Tuesday, Sukhbir said Punjab government planned the project to provide reasonably priced houses to all by 2022. The first phase of the project would be completed by October 2016 by providing residential accommodation to one lakh people living under BPL norms.
This initiative is being taken in order to look into the fact that the people who do not have a proper house to live in get a house under the BPL norms. The work on this initiative will start on soon enough as is being stated. Probably this work will continue through this year. As stated the work will be continuing till 2016 to the month of October.
