Only 20 percent population claim ownership in slums

No Comments Sub Category:Community,Realty News Posted On: Dec 19, 2011

The rate of slums in India are more than countable. Even though slums are emerging from two or three decades, it comes as a surprising news that only less than 1000 families claim ownership.

Even today Dharavi in Mumbai, once Asia’s largest slum till date has more than 59,000 tenements in it and hardly 20 percent out of these population either claim degree of permanence or ownership.

To clear all these issues the Maharashtra government is moving in a fast pace to bring justice to these slum dwellers and has therefore decided to work on framing new housing rules.
