Ordinance passed in Shimla to authorise 2500 unauthorised structures
The several owners of the unauthorised structures especially in the core, restricted and green areas in Shimla cannot be denied the benefit of the one-time relaxation in getting their unauthorised buildings regularised as the Cabinet stated that they are likely to exempt these areas from the benefit.
A rethink has been done on the issue with the criticism that is mounting over giving a free run to all the violators by issuing an Ordinance in order to amend the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act so that over more than 2500 structures could be regularised. On the 6th of September the department had issued an Ordinance for the amendments to the TCP Act so that it could help in paving the way for the regularisation of all the unauthorised structures.
Though the fee for the core area in Shimla was to be charged at 200 per cent of the regularisation fee and 150 per cent for the restricted area, there was criticism that was met that such concessions will be amounting to encouraging violators.
