Over 30% infra projects running late
Parliament was informed today that ,Over 30 per cent of the centrally monitored infrastructure projects as on December 1, 2013,have been delayed because of Law and order problems, land acquisition delay, fund constraints and environment clearances .
The on-going central sector infrastructure projects costing 150 crore and above are monitored by Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation in terms of time and cost overruns.
Minister of State (Independent) Srikant Kumar Jena said in a written reply to the Rajya Sabha, “As on December 1, 2013, 739 on-going central sector projects were on the monitor of this Ministry. Of these, 231 projects are delayed as against their original dates of commissioning.”
