Over 31,000 affordable flats in Gurgaon for EWS Category of Haryana region
Haryana government asked realtors for a status report of houses for the economically weaker section and affordable housing categories in Gurgaon. According to Haryana government, Gurgaon’s realty space has provisions for 31,736 flats under EWS and affordable housing categories in Gurgaon.
These flats are a part of 208 group housing colonies for which the government has approved building plans and 7,478 flats have already been allotted.
Since September 2014, when the Election Commission notified the assembly polls in Haryana, the town and country planning department had stopped issuing Change of Land Use (CLU) permissions for private colonizers and the ban has not been lifted yet.
It also said formalities on allotment of 14,500 flats and plots under both categories had been completed and the allotment scheme could be floated any time by state housing board and HUDA once the modalities are finalized.
The affordable housing scheme was launched in 2012 by then chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Notably, around 3,190 CLUs were issued across the state during Hooda regime. Largely, the CLUs have been issued for Gurgaon, Faridabad, Palwal, Sonipat, Rewari Rohtak, Panipat and Karnal in the national capital region and Panchkula, Hisar, Ambala and Kurukshetra.
