Panel starts discussion on DP road map
The first meeting on roads for revising the draft of the city’s development plan (DP) was held and the roads in the proposed DB were discussed. 13 committees comprising officials have been formed to conduct the basic survey of the draft DP. 10 committees have already submitted their basic survey reports. The remaining reports are expected to be submitted within a couple of weeks.
The basic survey involves reservations in the DP, lay-outs and alignments of roads. Later, the exact plans about reservations will be drawn, keeping in mind the projected population growth. An eight-member panel on the roads has been appointed by the joint director (Nashik division) of the town planning department, Prakash Bhukte. He is also revising the draft DP. The panel is headed by Bhukte and comprises of assistant director town planning (ADTP) of Nashik district Bhargave, ADTP of the civic body Vinay Shende, Nashik branch president of Indian Institute of Architects Nilesh Cavan, Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI)-Nashik president Jayesh Thakkar, architects Unmesh Gaydhani and Chandrakant Dhamane and former Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) engineer Mohan Ranade.
Chavan came up with the suggestion that 30-metre wide DP roads are outdated. The width of DP roads should be more than 45 metre. This will help in future plans such as Bus Rapid Transit System or other mass transporting system. Besides, alternative roads for Nashik Road and Gangapur Road have also been suggested.
The state government had cancelled the draft DP of the civic body on November 7, 2013 and Bhukte was appointed to revise the DP. The deadline for revising and publishing the draft DP is December 1, 2014.
