Pay property tax before Dec 15
A one day camp will be organised by Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) for property tax defaulters under Mega Lok Adalat at Gandhi Hall and all the zonal offices of the civic body on December 15.
Those who have not paid property tax can pay by December 15 to get the benefits of surcharge exemption of up to 100%.
Tax defaulters, who have pending dues upto Rs 50,000 will get a 100% release of surcharge. Those who have property tax dues in the range of Rs 50,000 to Rs 1 lakh and above Rs 1 lakh will get 50% to 25% waiver in surcharge.
Mayor Krishnamurari Moghe said that waiver in surcharge is only for one day and the tax defaulters can pay it in two installments. The 50% of the tax has to be paid on December 15 only and the remaining amount can be paid in the second installment.
The mayor decided to take the initiative of surcharge exemption after the organisation of Mega Lok Adalat by Madhya Pradesh High Court which discarded many pending cases of property tax dues.
This piece of information will be circulated by civic body through hoardings, loudspeaker and advertisement so that more and more people get benefited from it. Only 1.75 lakh people are paying property tax on a regular basis but with the help of this drive the civic body is planning to take number of tax payer to 2.25 lakhs.
