PCMC Pune got 8-Month Extension for taking Action against Unauthorized Structures
The Bombay high court had, on February 3, directed the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to act against all unauthorized constructions in the municipal limits within six months. The administration however had sought an extension of a year. The deadline ended on August 3. The high court, after hearing on PCMC’s appeal filed on July 29, granted an extension till March 31, 2012.
The high court on Wednesday gave the PCMC an eight-month extension for taking action against the 1.1 lakh unauthorized structures in Pimpri-Chinchwad region.The court was hearing a complaint of a resident of Mohannagar.
Dilip Kudale, coordinator, engineering department, PCMC, said,”There are a total 1.10 lakh unauthorized constructions in Pimpri-Chinchwad township. We have issued notices, under section 53 of the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning (MRTP) Act, to 30,777 owners of such constructions till now. They have been given one month’s time to remove their unauthorized structures, failing which, the PCMC will remove them and recover the cost from the owners,” said Kudale.”We will issue the remaining 79,233 notices in the coming months,” Kudale added.
