Plans in order to launch affordable houses on anvil
M H Ambareesh, the Housing Minister had once mentioned on Tuesday that the State Government will now focus on the modalities of the Affordable Housing Scheme. This is where the developers will be given the opportunity to earmark at least 25% of the houses to all income groups who tend to be lower at rates which are subsidised.
Ambareesh, while speaking to the reporters in Bangalore has mentioned that the State Cabinet has approved the affordable housing policy. There will be discussions arranged very soon by the State Government with the builders themselves. This is how the policy will be implemented.
The government is under the obligation to give incentives to the builders according to the policy. This also includes the higher floor area ratio.
According to Ambareesh, there are around 12 lakh houses that are going to be constructed within the next 4 years in the State. This would be under several schemes of the State and Central government for all those segments of the society that are economically weaker.
In the last one year, there have been 3 lakh houses constructed and Ambareesh has said that the subsidy is going to be provided by the government which will be about 1.2 lakh per house.
