Every rich man’s dream is to acquire a property in Lutyens in Delhi or South Mumbai. Perhaps to acquire a property can be quite tedious due to the limited supply. A ray of hope is given by the old owners who are in feud, as most of the businessmen are able to get their dream home in these areas.
The value of homes in prime parts of the city have spiraled over the last few years as properties are difficult to divide. As a result, the feuding owners are compelled to put their properties for sale or auction as these properties were brought decades ago by people who had no idea that their kins could make any fortune out of it.
The bidding of the properties in Lutyens was initiated as one of the buyer; Rajan Mittal for, bid Rs 156 crore for a property involving a litigation between four brothers since 1980. However, in another case, Religare CEO Sunil Godhwani has recently bid Rs 123 crore for a bungalow in Lutyens wherein the family members are awaiting the sale of the house after a court settlement.
Another property in Tughlaq Road involving a court settlement was on sale for about Rs 600 crore. The key reason for people opting for litigated properties is that there are seldom clean properties and most of them will not be sold.
