PM wants to put in place 17-point people-oriented agenda by August-end

With the NDA government’s first 100 days in office to be completed in August-end, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sent out a 17-point people-oriented agenda to his Ministries.

One of the key points of the agenda includes the construction of coastal expressways as part of a plan to upgrade the road and rail network in India, so that any destination in the country can be reached within 24 hours.

Some of the other noteworthy points in the agenda include boosting labour reforms to provide employment to workers for “fixed terms” rather than on contract; a new legislation on conflict of interest; and the addition of a health knowledge institute to all district hospitals.

Since the agenda specifically stresses on connectivity and power with “service goals” laid down for improving transportation within the country, a network of coastal expressways has been proposed on the east and west coasts; linked to one another through latitude expressways – which will be called Akshansh Marg Expressways – at 13 degrees, 15 degrees and 17 degrees.

The agenda was sent out by Modi on July 10; and the Ministries were required to submit detailed action plans by July 20. The Ministries were told that the action plans which they submit should focus predominantly on delivery and implementation, so that the agenda can be effectively put in place before August-end.
