Policy Speed breakers faced by the Highway developers
Private participation in highway projects has come down substantially, notably due to lack of legibility in government guidelines for the sector. Are things looking better for the moribund roads sector? No, not really; even after the fact that the government has finally notified an exit policy for highway developers and a committee headed by C Rangarajan submitting its report on the rescheduling of premium payment. The current situation regarding unfavourable public policies, land acquisition concerns and rising attacks on the toll gates only reinforce the idea of a deep crisis in the sector.
