Present WPE project developer to be replaced by the government

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 13, 2014

With the construction of the Western Peripheral Express (WPE) having come to a standstill, a series of meetings have recently been conducted to resolve the issues which are hindering work on the WPE project, which has not got a new completion deadline — July 2016.

Since the WPE project – which marks a peripheral expressway that bypasses New Delhi – has been delayed due to a number of hurdles, for which the stakeholders have been blaming one another, the government now plans to replace the present developer of the project.

Sources have revealed that the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) had been urged several times to replace the developer owing to poor performance and the constant pushing of the deadlines, but the HSIIDC had failed to heed to the requests and replace the developer.

According to the information shared by Bhure Lal, chairman of Environment Protection Control Authority (EPCA), a solution to resolve the issue related to replacing the present WPE developer is now being worked out, in conjunction with all involved parties including bankers.

With regard to the decision being taken while replacing the present developer of the WPE project, Bhure Lal said: “The focus is to ensure that once the settlement is done, no party goes to court.”
