Promoting multi-storey apartments in cities – Good or bad?
People from rural areas are migrating to cities as a result of urbanization and industrialization. The demand for housing is increasing rapidly along with the increase in rate of migration.
Apartments and flats are stretched in every direction. But yet they are not sufficient as the population is increasing at a fast pace.
An abundant need for multi-storey buildings is clearly visible. Developers and builders are promoting numerous apartments in every locality. Even people who have their own houses are demolishing them and raising apartments.
But this construction of numerous buildings has led to congestion in localities. Moreover, these buildings are built up on grounds which earlier were used as playgrounds, gardens, etc. As an outcome of this, children are unable to play and enjoy their leisure time. There are both advantages and disadvantages of the numerous constructions in cities. The civic amenities, flora and fauna are diminishing.
Promoting apartments may be the need of the hour but the culture it breeds has created a problematic situation for our society which needs to be appropriately addressed.
