Properties are going to be sold at low rates; Corporations Say

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 02, 2014

Complains have often been cited by the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike on matters of less funds needed for works of development. But the civic agency seems to be waiting when it comes to matters of mobilizing revenue from the current sources.

Objections were raised by the corporators on Thursday to the Palikes since they were allowing their properties to be sold at throwaway prices. In some places, the prices went below 8 paisa per square feet while in others; the residents are still enjoying all the benefits even though the period of permit came to an end long time ago.

The Kacharakanahalli ward corporator Padmanabha Reddy during a star question meeting said that there are 419 buildings under the BBMP for rent and large chunks of money have been derived out of it every month. The properties are over 179 acres and don’t cost more than 8 paisa per square feet. Schools such as Clarence and St Aloysious  have been sold for 50 paisa per square feet. He also asked that when schools have been collecting such huge sums of money, why BBMP can’t then charge higher amounts for rent.

The Palike properties on the other hand are way too expensive and despite the issuing of notices, none of the officers have made an attempt to recover the amount. All documents of the BBMP should be posted on the internet so that people can see.
