Properties in Delhi will be registered electronically
The revenue department of Delhi is going to introduce electronic registration system of sale deeds of properties in Delhi.
The municipality will start this electronic system of registration from the Mehrauli sub-registrar office in south Delhi, which covers a large part of south Delhi. Buyers of properties will now be able to take online appointment for registration of sale deed of the property they buy.
The buyers need to download the format of the sale deed and complete the formality without standing in queues or jostling with hundreds of others applicants.
On the basis of the success or failure of this system it will be replicated in all the areas of Delhi.
The downloadable formats of registration of sale deeds, general power of attorney and other documents will be available on the department’s website.
To make the system more user-friendly, the government is trying to digitize records of each property in the Capital so that the buyer knows the status of the property before finalizing a deal.
The government is also trying to introduce property titling system where each property in Delhi will be given a unique number. This will add more value to transparency for any property deal.
