Properties in North Delhi to get identity numbers
Properties in North Delhi Municipal Corporation are to get identity numbers as the corporation incurred huge losses due to the absence of database of the number of properties that are liable to pay taxes.
In order to improve the Corporation’s finances, it is mandatory that all properties pay taxes. This year it earned only Rs 110 crore compared with Rs.300 crore property taxes earned last year, said a corporation official.
Last year the distribution of unique property identification code (UPIC) to properties hampered due to trifurcation. Out of the 12 lakh codes distributed in Delhi, three lakh households tried to fleece paying taxes.
