Properties near metro lines to pay extra tax
The Delhi Government is thinking seriously over the proposal to assess extra tax on the properties available for sale along the metro rail and bus rapid transit (BRT) corridors.
This is to reduce the process of renewal and rebuilding of houses and stores of middle-class individuals and families. This proposal will help the general public transport users preserve their houses near hubs and get away from currently being displaced through car or truck users.
The Delhi government and the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) is preparing for a five year plan to fight pollution in the city and there are other proposals which includes increase in road tax for personal vehicles and reduction in bus fares and taxes on buses.
The program also looks to generate to create a transport fund. Part of this fund can be used to cheaper shuttle bus fares. The master plan appears to cut back fees in order to reduce total fees. It also proposes to rationalise financial assistance along with make them more targeted.
