Property registration card for property owners in Mysore

Property owners, who are facing problems to get property registration (PR) cards, can now see a sign of relief.

Approximately 20 percent of 35,000 property owners were supposed to get property registration cards, which allows ownership of a property in urban areas as per Karnataka Land Revenue Act (1964).

The urban development department has allowed the issuing of title deeds to property owners which will help the property owners to get PR cards under Urban Properties Ownership Record (UPOR) project.

According to the survey, property owners are facing problem in getting PR cards as the Mysore Urban Development Authority (Muda) did not provide title deeds to the property owners because the law stops the urban body to issue title deed within 10 years after the construction of the house.

As per law, title deed can only be issued after the construction of the house but some of the allottees has sold properties in Mysore without title deeds which is creating problem.

The civic authority has asked to issue title deeds collecting some fines to the sites that were allotted between 2001 and 2005. There were some confusion as to whom PR cards should be issued to but this move is going to help in UPOR project. MUDA has allotted 34, 861 sites in between 1989 and 2003 and 80 percent of these properties have title deeds.
