Proposal for tunnel work in Ner Chowk-Kullu-Manali highway
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a single-way tunnel between Pandoh and Aut on the Rs 4358.21-crore Ner Chowk-Kullu-Manali highway, which awaits the nod of the Ministry of Surface Transport and National Highways.
As per the report submitted to the ministry, the NHAI has proposed one-way tunnel between Pandoh and Aut as the highway passes through the steep shooting parallel mountains, which are divided by the Beas. The NHAI has proposed a 74.97-km-long four-lane highway between Ner Chowk near Mandi and Kullu till the Ram Shila Bridge. It has proposed a 37.275-km double-lane highway stretch with the tarred sideways between the Ram Shila Bridge and Manali.
This single way tunnel will help in reducing the distance or the journey between the two places. Sometime will be taken to get the permissions and the other necessary requirements will be taken in the next few months. Other details have yet not been provided.
