Prospects of Varanasi Ring Road Project set to improve under new Government

No Comments Sub Category:Infrastructure,Realty News Posted On: May 28, 2014

The prospects of the Varanasi Ring Road Project are apparently set to improve in the near future, with Narendra Modi-led new Government preparing to assume office at the Centre.

With ministries and departments scheduled to make their presentations before Modi next week, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) headquarters is seeking the current status of the Ring Road Project so as to include the project in its presentation.

The NHAI is working on its forthcoming presentation after having received a letter from Cabinet Secretary Ajit Kumar Seth, who had notified ministries and departments of Union government to prepare a report card of successes and failures of the UPA government and present it before Modi.

The Varanasi unit of the NHAI recently apprised The Times of India about plans to include the Ring Road project in its presentation. Project Manager Surya Prakash said on Wednesday that the NHAI headquarters had asked for the present status of the project; and added that all the details about the project have been sent.

Prakash also revealed that the status of the Ring road Project, as of now, is that the state government had, 3-4 years back, refused to provide land for two phases of the project. Prakash added that, for one phase of the project – which links Varanasi-Lucknow NH-56 with Varanasi-Ghazipur NH-29 -, the land of 34 villages had been incorporated in NH-29 project for developing it as by-pass.
