Public Accounts Committee to check Adarsh Housing Society Scam
In New Delhi the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee are ahead of examining the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Adarsh housing society scam for misusing housing norms. The officials from the Defence Ministry chaired by BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi reported to the parliament about rules not being followed by the state ministers in the Adarsh Co-operative Housing Society in Mumbai.
The Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s proved an “active involvement” causing loss of about Rs 30 crore as a wasteful expenditure and also upholding favouritism and bias in concern with the housing contracts projects. The government auditor in concern with the housing scam issue had also informed former Chief Ministers Ashok Chavan and Sushilkumar Shinde for the process clearances to the Society’s project. This was a concession granted by the Maharashtra government and also report was filed on the alleged irregularities in conduct with housing societies.
