Pune: Consumer Forum asks developer to compensate 27 flat-buyers
The Pune District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has, in a July 11 order, asked a city developer to pay a compensation amount of up to Rs 10 lakh each to 27 flat-buyers, due to delay in possession of their flats in a housing scheme at Kondhwa.
According to the order of the Forum, the developer – Ackruti Jay Developers – will have to pay, in compensation and other expenses, amounts in the range of between Rs 2 lakh to Rs 10 lakh each to the 27 flat-buyers in the mentioned scheme.
The 27 flat-buyers had booked flats in the scheme at Kondhwa in 2009; and were scheduled to get the possession of the flats in July 2011.
However, because of the inordinate delay on the part of the developer to give the flat-buyers the possession of their flats in time, the Forum has stated that there was a “deficiency in service” on the part of the builder.
The Forum’s order to the developer to pay compensation to the 27 flat-buyers notes that the developer has not only failed in giving them the possession of their homes as per the conditions of the agreement, but had also caused mental and physical sufferings to them, along with putting them through discomfort and inconvenience.
