Pune Municipal Corporation demolishes three illegal buildings in Katraj
In a demolition drive carried out on Friday, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) demolished three illegal buildings in Katraj. The buildings razed by PMC were spread over an area of approximately 8,500 sq ft.
The latest demolition drive by PMC comes after an anti-encroachment action which the civic administration initiated at the beginning of this fiscal year. In that drive, the administration had demolished illegal structures in Bavdhan, Ahmednagar Road, Satara Road area, Yerawada, Aundh, and Balewadi.
With illegal constructions spread over an area of 30,000 sq ft having been demolished by PMC in its earlier-this-year drive, the illegal constructions which went under the hammer during that drive included residential as well as commercial buildings.
Over the period of last one year, the PMC has taken action against 3,300 encroachments. The demolition drive in the last one-year period saw the PMC razing unauthorized sheds and houses constricted in the slum areas of Shivajinagar, Kasba Peth, Wadgaonsheri, Ambegaon, Kothrud, Katraj, Pashan, and NIBM Road. These constructions were spread over a 22.5 lakh sq ft area.
In addition, action has also been taken by the PMC against encroachments in shopping malls at Vishrantwadi, Satara Road, and Kothrud areas. Moreover, a special drive against encroachments has also been carried out by the civic administration on nullahs, footpaths, and roads.
