Pune property tax can be assessed on PMC website now
Now, citizens in Pune can breathe a sigh of relief. With increasing complaints from citizens of not receiving property tax bills or getting them too late to avail a 10 percent tax rebate, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has introduced a tool on their website for their ease.
Around six lakh properties in Pune come under the tax bracket of the civic body and property tax is the second largest contributor of revenue after octroi. Since paying bill before the end of July gives a rebate of 10 percent, citizens have been complaining that they receive bills after the cut-off date.
To keep up the pace, PMC has introduced a software which has a tax calculator that will enable people to assess their property tax themselves instead of making rounds to civic offices. This will also help in speedier registration of properties.
PMC has been doing their task right by delivering the bills to citizens at their doorstep through appointed agencies. However, citizens have been complaining that they are not receiving property tax bills.
As per an official in the civic body, with this new software, citizens will be able to calculate property tax using a tax calculator introduced on the PMC website www.punecorporation.org
With the launch of this project, PMC has other processes in pipeline like zero garbage project launch in Baner.
PMC has launched a zero-garbage project in Baner after its successful implementation in Katraj. The project is being launched by the civic body in collaboration with Janwani (social initiative of MCCIA), SWACH and Cummins India Ltd.
