Pune University handed over land for sub-centre at Shivnai in Dindori
On Saturday, Maharashtra’s Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat handed over the letter of land transfer – for setting up an independent sub-centre of Pune University – to V B Gaikwad, Pune University’s officiating vice-chancellor. The land for the sub-centre is located at Shivnai in Dindori.
Pune University had sanctioned an amount of Rs 5.50 crore for the independent sub-centre in March 2013. The measurement of the land n which the sub-centre is to be set up was carried out in June 2013. One year after the land measurement, the University has received a 7/12 extract of the 62.5 acre land for the sub-centre.
Though the transfer of land was previously to be done in June 2013, the delays in the procedure prompted the Advisory Committee of the University to meet with the District Collector Vilas Patil regarding the matter.
Revealing that the land for the sub-centre has finally been handed over Pune University, Gaikwad – who is also the Director of Board of College and University Development (BCYD) – said that Minister Thorat had recently handed over the letter of the land transfer to the university at the Revenue Commissioner’s office at Nashik Road.
Gaikwad also said: “From next month, we can proceed with the construction of the independent sub-centre. Since the last three years, we have been trying to set it up. It will take us close to two years to complete the construction.”
