Punjab Government to spend Rs 3,600 Crore on infra development
The Punjab Government has allocated Rs 3,600 crore for the strengthening of infrastructure in the state over the next two years. The Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Badal said in a statement that the amount had been earmarked for projects pertaining to potable water, sewerage, sewage treatment plants, concrete roads and streetlights. The development of Fifty-two towns would be undertaken in the first phase of the programme, he said.
The projects would encompass 23 sewage treatment plants and water supply schemes, railway over-bridges in Muktsar and Bathinda, group housing project in Bathinda and bus terminals in Faridkot and Bassi Pathana. He also said that a hi-tech neo-natal hospital at Kotkapura and over 10 66-KV sub-stations would also come up under the programme.
