Quarries to be next garbage dumping yard

The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), which has failed to resolve the matter of garbage crisis in the city is now knocking at the doors of department of mines and geology.

In a meeting with the deputy chief minister KS Eshwarappa and the ministers for large scale medium scale industries Murgesh Nirani regarding this issue, the BBMP sought for government’s approval for using abandoned quarries to dump garbage.

The mayor suggested that, hundreds of acres of quarry fields are unused and can be used for garbage dumping as there is a  lack of  space for dumping construction waste and debris.

The hunt is still on for finding landfill sites for garbage dumping, the hunt is still on, along with tenders have been allotted to the private agencies to start the functioning  by last week of November.
