Rahatani, Pimpri areas face water shortage
Residents of Rahatani and Pimpri are facing water shortage due to problems in the water distribution network, though there is no water cut in force in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The water shortage problem exists for the last one and half years in Savita Khule Chawl in Ramnagar area of Rahatani.
Also, the number of water connections taken under Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is less compared to the number of residents in the chawl.
The water being supplied is insufficient to meet daily needs and often there are quarrels between residents over filling water. Even water tankers proved very expensive in the long run.
Residents of Antariksha, Mega Heights and other housing societies located near Annasaheb Magar stadium in Pimpri are also facing water shortage.
The Kamgar Nagar, Vastu Udyog and Kharalwadi areas, among others, in Pimpri are also facing shortage.
The civic officials said that the elevated reservoirs of the civic body are not getting filled to capacity due to which they are not able to give adequate water supply to all.
