Rainwater harvesting is new project by Chennai Corporation

Comments(3) Sub Category:Chennai,Municipality,Realty News Posted On: Apr 23, 2012

The Chennai Corporation has planned to construct over 5,000 rainwater harvesting structures across the city.

According to a corporation official, the structures will be constructed at 30-metre intervals at every third storm water drain inlet.

A bore well pipe would be placed inside the inlets. Sand and blue metal would be filled in the pipe to filter the water.

As the residential complexes in Chennai are increasing, the demand for pure drinking water is also increasing. To counter the increasing demand, the corporation will utilize the rain water.

This project will make a positive direction for the entire country to overcome the increasing water crisis over different areas.
