Rajasthan Housing Board to launch 50 new housing schemes

Under its 60-day program, Rajasthan Housing Board (RHB) will launch 50 new housing schemes in 18 cities including Jaipur on Thursday.

A senior RHB official said, along with old applicants, new applicants can also fill forms for the scheme, proposed to develop 2,634 independent plots, flats and duplex houses.

The board will develop 704 flats of middle income group (MIG) A, B in Sanganer, in Jaipur. In Mansarovar, 17 higher income group (HIG) category flats will be developed, while 256 flats of the same category will be developed in Indra Gandhi Nagar.

For lower income group (LIG), 48 houses will be developed. “All the new schemes will be launched on self finance scheme (SFS) model. Around 16 schemes be will on regular basis.”

The RHB is aspiring that these schemes will attract buyers.Inspite of the fact that, in recent past, the idea of promoting vertical growth in the city failed as few takers applied in these schemes.

The number of applications received by the board recently for HIG and MIG was quite less than the proposed flats. Due to delay in housing projects and constant increase in prices buyers have been discouraged from purchasing flats developed under housing board schemes.  However, LIG and economically weaker section EWS continue to be the buyers of these houses schemes.

Despite extending the last date of depositing application form twice in many schemes, the desired number of applications was not received according to Sources. An official source also informed that the major reason buyers were not interested in RHB flats was the increase in cost. “In the last two years, the construction cost has been raised by more than 30%. For instance, cost of MIG B category flats has gone up to Rs 7-8 lakh,” said the source.
