Real estate builders are stealing power for construction
Power stealing is became a practice among the real estate builders and developers in Chennai.
Total 34 cases for stealing power have been registered for different property constructions in Chennai.
The Revenue collection department for power also has collected Rs 3.93 crore as fine for stealing power from different builders.
In 2011-12 total fine collected from the power stealing was Rs 12.54 crore.
When any reconstruction is happening, the builders must apply for a temporary connection. But as the cost of the temporary connections are higher, many developers do not apply for that.
