Real estate has made Hyderabad a dry city
The water content of Hyderabad has been reduced by the increase of the real estate projects in Hyderabad.
As drilling machines digging deep into the ground to lay foundations for the high-rises in Hyderabad, the water-table has receded dangerously. Most of the developers have violated all building norms leaving little open space for the rain to seep through and enhance the groundwater level.
People have started building more per square kilometer to utilize maximum land available. That has led to widespread concretization of the city. At least 70-75 per cent of all real estate projects are covered with negligible open space.
Environmentalists too blame the over-ambitious realty industry for this acute water shortage in Hyderabad.
Different architect feels that the government should concentrate towards the other major cities of Andhra Pradesh, instead of pushing Hyderabad to grow endlessly.
According to the development rule, it is mandatory to keep 10 percent open area in any real estate projects in Hyderabad. But this rule is violated by most of the builders in the city.
