Realty projects in smaller city attracts PE investment

Real estate projects in all Tier II and III cities are attracting more PE investors to invest in realty projects in India.

With the fund flow from the PE firms, the realty markets in smaller cities are growing much faster.

Earlier, the PE firms were keen on investment in top metros in India, but now the investments of PE firms are spread to over 40 cities.

According to a research firm, the PE investment has increased to 80 citiesĀ  in 2011.

Real estate projects in Ahmedabad, Roorkee, Patna, Kochi, Goa, Jaipur and Pondicherry have received several investments from private equity.

Though the awareness level about the PE investors is lower among the builders in smaller towns and cities, PE investors are targeting these local markets as the risk factor is lower in these areas.
