Relief to Unauthorized colonies in Delhi

No Comments Sub Category:Delhi-NCR,Realty News,Residential Real Estate Posted On: May 07, 2012

Over 1,200 colonies were given the provisional regularization certificates in the year 2008. The Delhi government is now planning to announce about the relief being provided to the residents of the unauthorized colonies.

The Group of Ministers (GoM), which was formed last year to provide relief and to develop the colonies, has made several recommendations with regard to the unauthorized colonies. The Delhi Cabinet discussed the matter on Saturday, and has agreed on some of the recommendations and will finalize them after further examinations.

According to the GOM’s report, sell and purchase of properties on their private land in unauthorized colonies shall be allowed. It has also recommended to allow the construction activities in these colonies. It also supports the regularization of over 150 unauthorized colonies which have come up in ridge and forest areas.

The Chief Minister, Sheila Dikshit, has ordered to speed up the developmental projects in unauthorised colonies. The major reason for Congress’ defeat in the recent civic polls is expected to be the lack of development of these colonies.

Urban Development Minister, AK Walia requested Union Urban Development Minister, Kamal Nath to relax certain norms in the regularisation of unauthorised colonies.
