Renowned township of Vizag
Adarshnagar, which was a farmland two decades ago, has now developed into a good residential area with a total population of 22,000 with about 8,000 households.
Owing to its connectivity to NH 5 on the Vizianagaram road and fast development, Adarshnagar, holds all the facilities of a posh township. It was earlier a rural area which later emerged as a middle-class habitation along with other satellite colonies, including Sunder Nagar, Swami Vivekananda Nagar and Ravindra Nagar.
Sanjay Indira Gandhi colony, a colony of economically weaker section (EWS) residents, also forms a part of the grand current Adarshanagar township.
Employees and middle class families bought plots from the weaker section residents, developed houses and started living there, gradually transforming the place into a good township.
It has a state government Dairy Farm spreads across 100 acres with a veterinary hospital, an Indo-Swiss Research Centre, a sperm bank and an artificial cattle breeding center.
It has well-maintained roads, good infrastructure and underground drainage system. The area is rich in quality groundwater, due to its vicinity of Mudasarlova Reservoir. It also gets regular water supply from Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC).
