Residents complain of drinking water pollution in Tiruchirapalli

Comments(2) Sub Category:Municipality,Other cities Posted On: Aug 16, 2012

The residents of Balaji Avenue, off the Thiruvanaikovil Trunk Road in Srirangam, are facing problems regarding drinking water.

The drinking water overhead tank (OHT) complex at the south-west corner of the locality has been exposed to pollution over the past few months, owing to the outflow of sewage from a faulty underground sewer line.

The OHT from where water is supplied to the locality and other parts of Srirangam and Thiruvanaikovil suffers from poor maintenance and neglect. A foul odour hangs in the air as the sewage flows all around the OHT.

On the wake of complaints, the ward councilor has assured that the problem of overflowing sewage would be solved soon.
