Residents go on fast-unto-death protesting against eviction
Four residents of Bhagwat Nagar in Patna have gone on fast-unto-death to protest the anti-encroachment drive by Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) and district administration.
The civic authorities have started the demolition drive complying with the order of the Supreme Court. As many as 266 houses were built allegedly in the locality without their design approval by Patna Regional Development Authority.
The Supreme Court has ordered the PMC to submit a preliminary report in the case by September 30 and 131 houses have been selected to be demolished. The residents are protesting saying that they have bought houses from farmers and have been paying their taxes duly.
