Residents’ issues addressed with upcoming elections

No Comments Sub Category:Bangalore,Cities,Civic Issues,Municipality Posted On: Apr 17, 2013

Residents staying in and around Shivajinagar are distressed as even after many complaints, the civic authorities have not taken any measures to tackle the drainage issue persisting from many years.

Many shops in this area are operating without electricity supply as the project to remove slit and widen the drain started has left unfinished.

Every time residents approach the local MLA regarding the issue, he gives the excuse of insufficient funds. However, the funds were sanctioned in 2009 for the underground drainage work on Armstrong Road, but the work has only started now.

Ramamurthy Nagar’s Kalkere Main Road which was in horrible condition has got a fresh coat of asphalt. The road could not be laid because the pipeline work was still pending due to shortage of funds.

However, now since the election is around the corner, there seems to be lot of actions going on around these areas.

Earlier, there used to be heaps of garbage on the road but from past few weeks the garbage is being cleared on a daily basis. Jayanti Nagar Main Road which had not been repaired for past four years, have been asphalted without laying drainage lines and footpaths.

Areas of east Bangalore like Vigyan Nagar, Basava Nagar and Vibhhutipura where roads were asphalted just two weeks ago. BBMP officials said that they are finishing all the pending work.
