Rooftops to act as energy farms
In a creative initiative, the Gujarat government has come up with two pilot projects in the state capital Gandhinagar, in which solar power will be generated using terraces of residential and commercial buildings.
Each one of these projects will generate 5 MW of solar power and will further work towards extending this concept to five more cities in the next few months.
Cities of Vadodara, Mehsana, Rajkot, Bhavnagar and Surat will together take Gujarat’s solar rooftop power project capacity to 30MW.
It was quoted that these projects are still in a nascent stage.
