Safeguard heritage structure from metro constructions
Madras High Court has directed Chennai metro rail corporation to carry on metro work without damaging the structural stability of heritage structures in the city.
Directions were passed by HC only after Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was filed by a travel agent to safety the heritage buildings in the city.
Heritage buildings such as; Ripon Building, law college campus, Victoria Public Hall, Madrasa-I-Azam and St Andrews Kirk on Poonamallee High Road are ordered to be secured to avoid further damages till the metro works are completed.
