Salt Lake an upcoming area in Kolkatta
Kolkata Metropolitan Area has been segregated into eight micro-markets by Crisil Research. Around 6% of the total upcoming supply in Kolkata is estimated to come from Salt Lake area, as per Crisil Research’s estimates. Between 1958 and 1965, Salt Lake was developed as a satellite township. Several national and international information technology (IT) companies have set up offices here and it is the biggest software technology hub in Kolkata. Salt Lake is also expected to be connected to upcoming East-West Metro Rail line and Howrah, due to its commercial importance. Residential demand in the core Salt Lake area is mainly driven by people working in IT and IT-enabled services companies situated in the region.
