Seek prior permission before digging a borewell
It will soon be made mandatory that one has to seek prior permission before digging a borewell either for commercial purpose or domestic purpose.
Mr. Suresh Kumar, the BWSSB Minister, said that the ground water condition is unpromising in many taluks as it has been over-exploited for years. He attended a meeting of the Groundwater Regulation Authority and discussed the matter.
He revealed that district-wise ground water regulation committees have been formed to check the over exploitation of groundwater and the Zilla Panchayat’s chief executive officer will be the member secretary of the committee.
Kumar included that the application fee fixed for sinking bore wells for domestic and agricultural purposes will be Rs 50 and that of commercial and industrial purposes will be Rs 500.
Kumar said that RWH structures are being installed at all government offices. He insisted that people should implement Rain Water Harvesting technique in order to save water.
